Codigo 1530 Tequila

What’s new in SMA? Well plenty as the food scene continues to change every day. We're bringing you five new hot spots over the next 5 days - the first: a new, premium tequila with an elegant, new tasting room in the Casa Blanca 7 hotel. We’re convinced you’ll love the taste as much as we do. Codigo 1530 proudly bears the Jerusalem Cross as its logo; part of the Jalisco Coat of Arms which dates back to 1530. While most tequila is aged in American whiskey barrels, Codigo 1530’s rested tequilas are aged in French White Oak barrels from the Napa Valley and can you ever taste the difference, resulting in a uniquely, delicate finish. The new tasting room is run by Claudia Cazares, a young tequila lover and former representative for Cascahuin, Diageo and Campari. The tasting room is strikingly elegant and home to 6 different tequilas: Blanco, Rosa, Reposado, Cristalino, Anejo and Extra Anejo. Along with a line of related products, like Organic Agave Nectar, they also produce Mezcals, high proof tequilas and specials collaborations: Anejo finished in Spanish Fino sherry casks and another refined in a barrel of Sauvignon Blanc. It’s the only flavored tequilas that are naturally infused. There’s always room for another premium tequila brand in SMA and we’re thrilled to welcome Codigo 1530. We’ll visit their facility in Jalisco when we’re in Guadalajara this August. It's some of the best tequila we've had in all the years we've been in Mexico. Thank you Guillaume Martin of El Estoril for the introduction.
