Heaven on Seven

I’ve taken so many Cajun cooking classes and although I consider my Gumbo to be pretty good, it just doesn’t taste like Heaven on Seven’s. At 111 N State Street, the original location celebrated its 30^th Anniversary last year.

It’s so thick, so dark and so rich…and the mystery is definitely a well kept secret. Don’t waste your time looking on the internet. The recipes posted are not the recipe. I know – I’ve tried them all.

So that’s my challenge for this winter and in the mean time, I’ll just have to be content with enjoying the Gumbo out with a side of Jalapeno Corn Bread muffins.

Come to think of it, my muffins aren’t like theirs either. Double challenge!
