How Friendly Are The People Of Lake Bluff? Enough To Share Food With A Total Stranger!
I was walking from the train this afternoon, and this young woman came out of one of my favorite places, the Noodle Bar (see previous post 10/25/09). She was carrying a big paper bag and whatever was inside smelled so delicious.
As we walked together I asked her if she ordered something good. She got so excited when she told me that she got the Taro Spring Rolls - which is a combination of shrimp, crabmeat & flavoring spices in a crispy taro wrap with sweet chili sauce.
She then reached in, took one out of the bag and handed it to me. Imagine my surprise. She loved them so much, she wanted me know just how good they were and made a point of telling me she paid only $5.00.
As you can see from the photo, the taro wrapper fries up and has a very unusual texture. They almost look like lace.
Reminded me that I am overdue for a fix at the Noodle Bar at which time I will have to try those Taro Spring Rolls again.
Somehow eating outside on Scranton Avenue in March just did not have the same ambiance.
Bon Appetit!
